Two American records were shattered by Allen James of La Grange GA. He set the 25,000 meter track record with a time of 1 hour 51 minutes and 43 seconds. The previous record (1:54:33) was set by Ray Sharp in 1982.
In the same race, James broke the American record for 2 hours, walking a distance of 26,661 meters. The previous record (26,145 meters) was set by Sharp in 1982.
